What Happened At Our Club Meeting On Tuesday, March 25, 2017?

Only smiling faces at the El Cajon Rotary Club!
Sean Bradford showing off his El Cajun Fest T-shirt.  Remember folks, our annual gala is fast approaching and is shaping up to be a whole lot of fun.  More later in this bulletin
Police Chief Jeff Davis inspired us by highlighting one of his most impressive young officers, officer Louie Michael.  Officer Michael recently received the "Above and Beyond" award.  This award was presented to officer Michael by the Anti-Defamation League in a ceremony in Los Angeles.  Only two recipients from San Diego were awarded this honor.  To give you an idea of how competitive the award is, the other person receiving the award this year was Assistant U.S. Attorney Cindy Cipriani.
A huge congratulations to officer Louie Michael for being such a positive force in our community!
Monica always does an outstanding job of keeping us informed about what is happening in El Cajon.  Here she is giving us the latest update.
Club President, Cheryl Minshew, starting the meeting with a smile, as usual.
Susan and Jamie showing of their great smiles.
WELCOME TO OUR GUESTS
Dave Waters brought his lovely wife, Chris to our meeting on Tuesday.  It's always so nice to see Chris at our meetings!  In fact, we should consider fining Dave when he doesn't bring her.
Wes and Charlie brought two very nice guests from the American Legion Post in Spring Valley.  Sure would love to have a few more members boys.
Humbert brought two of his employees, Yahaifa and Pantress.  They did a great job in presenting information about Cabrera and Associates as part of our club's initiative to highlight businesses within our club.
Josh shares his King King impersonation for a brief moment.  Sorry Humbert.  We hope the roof was supposed to come off.
Once again this week, we enjoyed another fantastic lunch by Rita at the El Cajon Elks Lodge.  Join us next week for another great program and lunch!
OUR PROGRAM on March 25th, 2017

We enjoyed a wonderful program this week as we got a behind-the-scene look at what goes on at the San Diego Natural History Museum.

Dave Waters introducing our speaker of the day, Ms. Judy Gradwohl.  Judy is the new President and CEO of the San Diego Natural History Museum. Prior to coming to San Diego, Judy spent over 30 years at the Smithsonian Institution and spent her early years in Central America.  Way impressive!
Ms. Gradwohl gave us with a fantastic presentation about the history of the museum and all of the initiatives and services the museum provides to the citizens of San Diego.
You probably did not know that the San Diego Natural History Museum is the second oldest institution of its kind in America, being established in 1874.  You probably also didn't know that the museum has an incredible research library and a loan program for the schools in San Diego.  The museum is also very active in their bi-national study program with Baja and reaches over 160,000 kids each year through their educational programs for grades K-12 in both San Diego and Baja.
Dick Savage leading our club in prayer during our meeting on Tuesday.
